Trouble Shooting

PowerLine Connectivity

If the connectivity fails please check the following

  1. Is the ethernet cable plugged in to the MPI adapter on X122 or X101

  2. Check the MPI settings (address), PLC Rack and PLC Slot numbers.

    • If you use the interface X122, use nck-mpi=3, plc-slot=2, plc-rack=0
    • If you use the interface X101, use nck-mpi=13, plc-slot=13, plc-rack=0
    NOTE

Some machine builder reconfigure these standard settings from Siemens.

  3. Check if there are free MPI resources available. The number of participants are limited.

  4. Check the settings on the MPI-to-Ethernet adapter. The following example shows the configuration of the S7-LAN adapter.

    • Ensure the local device address is free (like 20 in this example).

    • Scan the the bus and check where the NCU is configured In the following example, on nck-mpi=3. Note that the other device might be the PLC.

  5. Check the settings on the Sinumerik HMI, if communication is enabled on the interface.
